Watch a game
Two opponents play each other and you watch: two human-like players of different strengths, an engine level against a character, or any pair from the list you play against yourself. Nothing you do changes the game.
Choosing the two sides
On Practise, the Play against the engine card has New game. At the top of that screen choose Watch instead of You play.
On a window, tap two opponents in the list: the first is White, the second Black, and tapping one again lets it go. On a phone, each side under White and Black has Choose, which opens the list, and Change once it has someone. Swap turns the colours round. Maximum is not offered: it thinks on its own clock and cannot be fast, and against a human-like opponent the result is foregone.
Time is one of the preset time controls; there is no Untimed, because each move is charged to a clock. Pace is Real pace, where each move takes the time it is charged with, or Fast: the same game and the same clocks, with no waiting. Start watching starts it.
While it is played
Watch a game shows the board with White at the bottom, each side's name and clock beside it, the opening's name and the moves. In the bar, Pause stops the game and Resume carries it on, and the pace can be switched at any moment. Leaving the screen ends the game.
When it is over
The result is said in words. Open in Analysis takes the game there, and New game goes back to choose again. A watched game is Unrated, and it is not kept with My games — that is a list of the games you played. To keep one, open it in Analysis and use Save as…, as with any analysis.
A whole round robin of such games, with you as one of the players, is a tournament. The rest of the Practise tab is on practise on your own.
